7th Grade Texas History
1. Course Description
Texas History students study the history of Texas from early times to the present.
Students examine the full scope of Texas history, including the cultures of Native
Americans living in Texas prior to European exploration and the eras of mission building,
colonization, revolution, republic, and statehood. Students will be able to
explain the influence of the U.S. Constitution on the Texas Constitution, and examine the
rights and responsibilities of Texas citizens. Students will use primary and secondary
sources to examine the rich and diverse cultural background of Texas.

I graduated from Lufkin High School in 2001. I graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University with a Bachelors in Kinesiology with a minor in business. I recently graduated from Lamar University with a Masters in Education Administration.

My name is Brett Purcell. I have an English Bulldog named Meatball. I like to go to all sorts of sporting events. My favorite sports teams include, Oklahoma Sooners, Oklahoma City Thunder, Dallas Cowboys, Houston Astros. I am in my 9th year as a teacher and coach. I also coach Jr. High Football, Basketball, and Track.
