7th Grade Reading





I am honored to be part of your child's education. I look forward to a great year in 7th grade Reading. This is an exciting time in your child's life and we will work together to see that he/she is successful.

 Reading is everywhere! In order for students to succeed in life, they need to know how to read and comprehend a variety of texts. We will work hard this year to ensure this happens. It is a partnership and I will need your support. Together we CAN make a difference.

Course Description

The English Language Arts and Reading Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) are organized into the following strands:

* Reading - students read and understand a wide variety of literary and

   informational texts

* Writing - students compose a variety of written texts with a clear controlling

  idea, coherent organization, and sufficient detail

* Research - students learn how to locate a range of relevant sources; evaluate,

  synthesize, and present ideas and information

* Listening and Speaking - students listen and respond to the ideas of others

   while contributing their own ideas in conversations and groups

* Oral and Written Conventions - students learn how to use the oral and written

  conventions of the English language in speaking and writing

We will also be using the Renaissance Accelerated Reading Program and we will work together to find books that interest your child to ensure success.


Conference: 9:40 am - 10:26 am

Tutorial: Tuesday and Wednesday 7:30 am -7:55 am

I am starting my 28th year in education. I have worked with students from Kindergarten through 8th grade and experienced many positions within our district. I personally love to read and cannot wait to share my passion with my students.


I have been married to my husband Keith for 29 years. I have a son attending Texas A&M University and a daughter who is a Senior at High School. I am actively involved in the community and love to volunteer with a variety of organizations.
